You can travel to Delft quickly and easily from 40 European destinations via Rotterdam The Hague Airport.  Several major airlines fly at Rotterdam The Hague Airport, of which Transavia handles the most flights.

From the airport, you can take the bus (number 40) or a taxi to reach Delft.

Amsterdam Schiphol Airport: https://www.schiphol.nl/en/

Schiphol Airport, the largest airport in the Netherlands, is 35 minutes away from Delft. Every day, various intercontinental and European flights land here. From Schiphol you can easily travel to Delft by train in 40 minutes.

By public transport:

Getting around the Netherlands by public transport is easy and convenient. The Netherlands has the busiest railroad network of the EU and trains go regularly between all major cities. For getting from the airport to Delft as well as traveling from Delft to other places in the Netherlands we highly recommend you use public transport. The Netherlands is also well-connected to several international rail lines, including high-speed trains from London and Paris.

OV-Chip card

To be able to travel by public transport, you need an OV chip card. As a visitor you will purchase an anonymous OV-chip card or a disposable OV-chip card. You can buy single tickets at one of the NS vending machines at the train station for a small extra charge. Do you not have a public transport chip card and do you want to travel by bus or tram? That is no problem, for a small surcharge you buy a ticket from the driver. For train travel you do need a chip card.

Delft has two train stations; Delft Campus and Delft Center. From Delft Centrum station you can walk to the city center in a few minutes. Both train stations are about a 25 minute walk away from the Aula Conference Centre.

Delft is centrally located between The Hague and Rotterdam. As a result, trains run regularly to and from the city, so you never have to wait long. It only takes 10 minutes to get from Rotterdam and/or The Hague to Delft by train, 45 minutes from Amsterdam, and around three hours from Groningen and Maastricht. For those who need assistance during their train travels NS has offers NS Travel Assistance: https://www.ns.nl/en/travel-information/traveling-with-a-disability/ns-travel-assistance.html

Getting around Delft

While trains are the most convenient way for traveling to Delft, there are several other options for getting around the city once you are there, including by bus and tram. Since Delft is a relatively small city, most locations within the city are also easily reachable on foot.

By Bus

There is a large bus platform in front of the new station. Almost all city and intercity buses will stop here. Transport companies are RET and EBS. Consult 9292 for the current times of the buses before departure.

By Tram

In Delft two tram lines run by HTM.

Tramline 1 – This tram runs from Scheveningen beach to Delft South. On the way you will pass all the great highlights of both The Hague and Delft. For example, step out for a visit to the Municipal Museum, Mauritshuis, the Oude and Nieuwe Kerk or the Vermeer Center.

Tramline 19 – This tram runs from Leidsenhage to Delft Station. Get off at the Prinsenhof stop to cross directly to Museum Prinsenhof Delft. Do you want to go to the historic city center? From stops Prinsenhof and Station Centrum you walk straight into the center.

Consult the current departure times of HTM before departure: https://www.htm.nl/en/
